How to Connect Your WhatsApp Business Number to Watsy
Connecting your WhatsApp Business number is the first thing you do in Watsy. It takes a few minutes, it uses WhatsApp’s own official sign-up, and you stay in control the whole way.
Here’s exactly how it works.
What you’re connecting
A workspace in Watsy maps to one WhatsApp Business Account. Inside that account you can have unlimited phone numbers. So one workspace can run a sales line, a support line, and a number for a different brand, all at once.
You don’t move your number anywhere. You connect it, and your AI agent starts replying through it.
Before you start
You’ll want a few things ready:
- A Facebook Business account (you’ll sign in during the flow).
- A phone number you can verify, that isn’t already tied to a personal WhatsApp app for the same use.
- About five minutes.
That’s it. No technical setup on your side.
Step 1: Start the official sign-up
In your Watsy dashboard, open the WhatsApp connection screen and click to connect a number. This launches WhatsApp’s official Embedded Signup flow, run by Meta itself.
Because it’s the official flow, you’re approving the connection directly with WhatsApp, not handing your credentials to a third party.
Step 2: Sign in and pick your business
Sign in with your Facebook Business account. Choose the business account you want to use, or create one if you don’t have it yet. This is the account your numbers live under.
Step 3: Add and verify your number
Enter the phone number you want to use, then verify it with the code WhatsApp sends. If the number is brand new to WhatsApp Business, the flow walks you through setting it up.
Once it’s verified, the connection finishes and the number shows up in your workspace.
Step 4: Assign an agent
A connected number doesn’t reply on its own. You point an AI agent at it.
- Open your agents and pick the one you want on this number (or create one with its persona and instructions first).
- Assign that agent to the number.
- The agent is now live and will answer incoming messages 24/7.
Want to be careful before going live? Test the agent in the Playground first, privately, so you can see how it responds before a single customer does.
You keep ownership of your number
This matters, so let’s be clear:
- The number stays yours. It lives under your business account.
- You can disconnect at any time and keep the number.
- Watsy never takes over your number; it just lets your agent reply through it.
Running more than one number
Need separate lines? Just repeat the flow. Add as many numbers as you like under the same workspace, and give each one its own agent with its own persona. A support number can sound calm and helpful; a sales number can sound sharp and quick. Same workspace, different agents.
Quick checklist
- One workspace = one WhatsApp Business Account, unlimited numbers.
- Connect through WhatsApp’s official sign-up.
- Assign an agent to each number to bring it to life.
- Test in the Playground before going live.
- Your number stays yours, always.
Once a number is connected and an agent is assigned, you’re ready. Customers message your WhatsApp like normal, and your agent answers right away, in their language, handing off to your team whenever a human is needed.
